Keyboard note: some keyboards cannot detect every six-key combination at once. Use “Test my six keys” before practising. The on-screen keys remain available if the keyboard has limited key rollover.
Choose an instructor. Your instructor will guide you from the Braille cell through Grade 1 (uncontracted) Braille and into Grade 2 (contracted) Braille.

Terminology note: “Grade 1” commonly means uncontracted Braille and “Grade 2” means contracted Braille. In formal UEB rules, “grade 1 mode” also has a specific technical meaning. This course introduces the traditional learning stages and then explains the formal indicators.
