Q. Strategies to Prepare for Advocacy
Chapter 9
Being able to stand up for yourself and for others is crucial, especially when you realize that the injustices in society need to be righted and the rights of its people protected. By doing this, you often have to allow yourself to walk in the shoes of others to share in their daily experiences, hurts and pains. To become an advocate, it is important that you apply the following strategies provided to aid your retention and comprehension of the readings in this chapter:
Know your rights.
Understand the issues that affect you and others like you.
Make your voice be heard.
Never allow yourself to be excluded from the decision-making process.
Stand firm for what it is you believe.
Let no one silence you.
